I am a credentialed teacher with more than 20 years of classroom experience in Oregon, California, and Georgia. I am passionate about teaching reading and meeting the needs of diverse learners with a focus on dyslexia. I focus on Structured Literacy, which emphasizes a highly explicit and systematic teaching of the important components of literacy, including decoding, spelling, written expression, and reading comprehension. I have utilized my training and certification in Orton-Gillingham to help children become confident readers and life-long learners. I believe fully in the team approach and work closely with families, teachers, and schools to help create the best learning environment for my students. My approach is grounded in a philosophy that a multi-sensory methodology is the key to success in learning to read and write.
I am offering families two educational enrichment models for kindergarten through third grade.

GENERAL ACADEMIC SUPPORT
This support model will focus on completing your student’s assigned work; I will also introduce and/or reinforce learning concepts, provide project management, and educational enrichment opportunities that inspire a love for learning.

READING SUPPORT
This support model will consist of two components. The first component is a baseline assessment of your student’s reading level. I will then create lessons designed specifically to meet your student’s individual learning needs.

My practice is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach. Reading support is most successful when done consistently. Two times per week is suggested.
